Why Run?

I got home from work yesterday afternoon pretty exhausted…Saturdays just aren’t meant for working!  I quickly grabbed a change of clothes as I had 10 miles I needed to crack out before tackling my dirty house and heading to church. My daughter asked me….Mom, why do you run? I get that question so often….I spent the next 77 minutes worth of running thinking about that.

A quick recap why people run…we run to breathe…it is a way to release all of the pressures of the day. We run to feel strong. Running isn’t easy, weak people can’t/don’t do it. We run because with the road or trail beneath your feet and your body doing what is natural and good it gives a sense of power. We run because it is so deep inside of us that NOT running hurts. We run because we are competitors, not just against other people but ourselves. We run because it is good for our minds and our bodies and our souls. We run because it allows us to do life.

I love the run.

That was great Cindy. I’ll look back on this through the next few months of marathon training to remind myself.
